 Billfish

Offshore fishing on North Carolina's Outer Banks is some of the best in the world. The combination of bottom structure on the continental shelf and the gulfstream current and eddies provide year round fishing. Our run to the Gulf Stream is short in comparison with many east coast destinations, averaging 30-45 miles.

Billfish are usually available from June through September with some of the best fishing occurring in August and September.

Blue Marlin are always a possibility especially around the full moon in August.

White Marlin fishing in August and September also peaks with catches of 10 to 15 fish per boat and as many as 200 caught per day by the fleet.

Sailfish can be caught from May to September and at times can be seen "balling" bait as closee as 18-20 miles from the inlet. The availability of sailfish along with blue and white marlin provides an opportunity at a "grand slam" - blue marlin, white marlin and sailfish in the same day, which is a sought after accomplishment in billfishing.
